Today, we continue to bring care, commitment and quality to everything we do – even as the world around us has changed, our values and priorities have been reassuringly steadfast.
Building better
– 1976 –
Our founder, K.Z. Islam, a true visionary, started his business with the name Nirman, meaning ‘to build’ in Bengali. But, this simple, sophisticated name only tells part of our story.
Crucially, Nirman was founded to build better – not just to deliver, but to deliver consistently and confidently, helping our clients and partners achieve their goals.
Building communitites
– 1980 –
By the 1980s, K.Z. Islam’s reputation for quality, commitment and vision was already becoming well established. In 1983, he took this same approach to an entirely new task: becoming the president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
This was the start of a long journey, taking Nirman from a trusted partner in construction into a household name in sports. With the launch of Nirman School Cricket, K.Z. Islam played a key role in building Bangladesh cricket – including inspiring a new generation of players.
Nirman also began a longstanding focus on supporting and enriching local communities – including developing Sreepur Village, an orphanage for women and children at cost price.
Building iconic landmarks
– 1990 –
Our CSR work continues to this day, but we’ve also been involved with a wide range of high-profile projects that have since become iconic locations. These include Sena Kalyan bhaban (the first fair face concrete building in Bangladesh), the BRAC building, the Bangladesh Bank and many more. Our reputation for quality led to Nirman becoming the premier choice.
Of course, high-profile buildings are just one part of what Nirman does. Our history also includes infrastructure, civil engineering, and the critical construction that keeps an entire country moving.
Building our future
– 2000 –
In more recent years, Nirman’s work has extended into consulting and turn-key engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) in areas like power generation, as well as development of luxury residential and commercial spaces. With quality still at our core, we’re laying the foundations for the next stage of our success.
At the same time, we’re leading the way in responsibility. Beyond financial support to communities and key projects, we’re using eco-friendly materials and constantly evolving everything we do to create a healthier, more sustainable future.
